Non-Linear Movement Method Classes

What is Non-Linear Movement Method® (NLMM)?

The Non-Linear Movement Method® (NLMM) is a powerful, accessible somatic practice developed by Michaela Boehm and refined by Steve James. This method helps release physical tension, process emotions, and awaken sensual sensations through gentle, self-guided movements on a mat or blanket. Suitable for all ages and fitness levels, NLMM can reduce stress, enhance pleasure and well-being, and release trauma patterns, making it easier to connect with your body and emotions. Whether you're looking to relax, heal from past trauma, or increase your body's responsiveness and intimacy with sensations, NLMM offers a transformative path to deeper self-awareness and emotional release.

Regulates The Nervous System:

NLMM relieves bodily tension and mental stress by identifying and unwinding contraction patterns through gentle, non-force movements, resulting in a systematic unburdening of the nervous system.

Processes and identifies emotions:

As the body unwinds and the mind relaxes, associated emotions become apparent and are released, allowing for further emotional processing and release.

Releases trauma patterns and awakens sensations:

NLMM helps release trauma-induced "freeze" patterns, facilitating emotional and physical flow. This process increases sensitivity, allowing participants to feel deeper pleasure and well-being.

Enhances bodily responsiveness and wisdom:

By promoting the release of tension and emotional awareness, NLMM increases bodily responsiveness and opens access to the body's natural wisdom, enabling fluid reactions and the release of suppressed tensions.

Meet Stef - Your Facilitator

Stef is a Feminine Embodiment Coach, Non-Linear Movement Method Teacher, and Tantra Teacher committed to helping women live exquisite lives aligned with their deepest truths. With over 4.5 years of experience and a trauma-informed approach, Stef specializes in guiding women to reconnect with their bodies, navigate their shadows, and cultivate deep self-love and trust.

Formerly an ex-corporate marketer, Stef’s path into healing began after hitting rock bottom—a pivotal moment that led her to rediscover herself and eventually become a certified Tantra Teacher. During her journey, Stef experienced a profound challenge following an Ayahuasca ceremony that triggered severe trauma, PTSD, and near-psychosis. The subsequent four-year recovery process taught her invaluable lessons in trauma recovery and nervous system regulation, profoundly deepening her embodied knowledge and enhancing her ability to support others through their own healing journeys.

Stef’s lived experience offers a rare and compassionate insight into the human experience, allowing her to connect with her clients on a deeper level. She helps women identify and overcome blocks in their lives by working with their bodies to tune into their inner wisdom, helping them move from feeling stuck to finding flow. Through the practice of feminine rewilding, Stef guides women back to their bodies and their true, wild selves, enabling them to reconnect with their authentic nature. She also supports them in cultivating self-love and body love, creating a nurturing space where women can embark on a transformative journey of personal growth and self-discovery.

"After 3months of daily Non-Linear Movement Method practice, I felt more embodied, joyfilled and alive then I had in years! The final parts of dissociation from my trauma just melted away. Now this is my 'go-to' daily practice. I'm so proud to be a certified teacher of NLMM and am so honoured to be able to guide others towards feeling amazing in their bodies now too!"

The Non-Linear Movement Method has many deep, powerful applications:

Regulates Your Nervous System

In our fast-paced world, stress and mental chatter can create tension in our bodies and minds. Non-Linear Movement Method (NLMM) helps you identify and release these built-up tensions. By engaging in gentle, fluid movements, you can ease bodily stress and calm overactive thoughts. This process allows your nervous system to naturally reset and find balance.

Processes and Identifies Emotions

As you move and unwind, the emotional layers tied to physical tension become clearer. NLMM helps you recognize and process these emotions. Instead of getting stuck in repetitive emotional patterns, you can allow feelings to surface, acknowledge them, and let them go.

Releases Trauma Patterns

Traumatic experiences, whether recent or past, often lead to a state of "freeze," where the body and mind feel numb and stuck. NLMM works through continued movement to gently unravel these frozen patterns. This helps you recognize and release the deep-seated physical and emotional blocks that keep you stuck.

Deepens Mind-Body Connection

Engaging with NLMM helps you become more aware of and connected to your physical sensations. As you continue to practice, you'll notice ingrained patterns becoming more visible yet less intense. This growing intimacy with your body allows you to experience and accept all sensations more fully, integrating your mind, emotions, and body.

Enhances Bodily Responsiveness

NLMM teaches your body how to process and release tension while tuning into your internal landscape—a skill known as interoception. This heightened awareness helps you respond to sensations fluidly, without getting bogged down by past traumas or suppressed emotions.

Unlocks Bodily Wisdom

By focusing on movement rather than overthinking, NLMM taps into your body’s natural intelligence. Gentle guidance helps loosen the grip of mental and physical blocks, allowing your body’s innate wisdom to guide you towards necessary actions and releases.

Awakens Vital Energy and Sensuality

As you release tension and emotional blocks, you become more attuned to your body's sensations. This increased sensitivity can enhance your experience of pleasure and well-being. Many participants find they connect more deeply with themselves and others, experiencing a richer sense of vitality and sensuality.

NLMM is facilitated on a mat or blanket. Participants dress similar to a Yoga or Dance Class, in comfortable, non-restrictive clothing.

Non-Linear Movement Method™ classes can be taught freestanding (like a yoga class) or as an adjunct to another modality.

*NLMM is not a substitute for therapy or medical treatment. If you have a history of trauma, mental health issues or medical conditions, please consult your physician or mental health care practitioner to determine if somatic movement modalities are appropriate for you.*
